Well fellow deviants, my entire journey on deviantART has taken a large rather important detour, thanks to ~oh-so-insidious along with others such as ^Synfull I have been introduced into the wonderful world of creating Emoticons. Before being introduced to creating Emoticons I seen them around deviantART and thought that they were rather interesting but far to complex for me to produce, I also had no idea how they were created and honestly was not that interested. Nevertheless on night ~oh-so-insidious and me were talking online and she shows me an emoticon that she made herself which sparked my interest in the whole subject of making emoticons. I tried to make a few but failed miserably until I came across =LeoLeonardo and his fantastic tutorials on how to make Emoticons (Here is a link to his Tutorials if anyone is interested [link]). After discovering how to make emoticons I got even more inspired by =Caeser1993. His work is very impressive and if he can do so good in two years why can I not become good at as well? The answer is that I can do what ever I put my mind to so I can be as good as anyone at anything if I just try. This is what I am doing, I now am applying myself as hard as I can when I create these emoticons, seeing that I started making these emoticons exactly three weeks and two days ago I believe that I have made good progress as an Emoticonist. My goal is to bring new emoticons which can inspire people in the same way in which I was inspired.
Right now I will say that if you are any what interested in creating emoticons but have questions you can ask me anything you want, here on deviantART, on MSN Messenger (shrew_lad@hotmail.com) or you could send me an email (shrewlad@gmail.com).
Emoticon on Wikipedia [link]
An emoticon is a textual portrayal of a writer's mood or facial expression. They are often used to alert a responder to the tenor or temper of a statement, and can change and improve interpretation of plain text. The word is a portmanteau of the English words emotion (or emote) and icon. In web forums, instant messengers and online games, text emoticons are often automatically replaced with small corresponding images, which came to be called emoticons as well. Examples of widely known emoticons are the smiley face : ) and the frowny face : (
Early emoticons go back to the 1800s and commonly arose when casual/humorous writing was common. The emoticons on the Internet can largely be traced back to a proposal by Scott Fahlman in a message of 19 September 1982.
In web forums, instant messengers and online games, text emoticons are often automatically replaced with small corresponding images, which came to be called "Emoticons." Similarly, in some versions of Microsoft Word, the Auto Correct feature replaces basic smileys such as :- ) and :- ( with a single smiley-like character. Originally, these image emoticons were fairly simple and replaced only the most straightforward and common character sequences, but over time they became so complex that the more specialized emoticons are often input using a menu or popup windows, sometimes listing hundreds of items. Emoticons have also expanded beyond simple cartoon facial expressions to a variety of still or moving images. Some of these graphical emoticons do not actually represent faces or emotions; for example, an "emoticon" showing a guitar might be used to represent music. Further, some instant messaging software is designed to play a sound upon receiving certain emoticons. Many sites use GIF or PNG graphic files, because of their transparency and small file size capabilities. Files can be created using a raster graphics editor. Many emoticon artists design their emoticons pixel by pixel. Some emoticons are made in vector format, such as SVG, and automatically processed using a graphics library. This allows SVG files to be automatically rendered as a GIF or PNG file, which is compatible with most browsers, which SVG is not.
Well I design my emoticons pixel by pixel apart from the colouring of it which I use the gradient feature which makes life that bit more easy. For creating them I use Adobe Photoshop CS2. I usually have no idea what I am going to make until I am over half way done with it. When I was making my Emoticon-Throw emoticon I did not really know what I was going to do next, I just did what ever came into my mind. Even after I had finished and uploaded it to dA I took it off and edited it again, twice and I may even do it again. It is a process which should not be rushed (in my opinion) because when you rush to do something you are not working to the full of your capacity so I prefer to take my time when making Emoticons. I believe this means I get a better outcome working the way in which I do. If you have another questions about my creation of emoticons just ask.
As well as creating Emoticons I have started to create Avatars. I find that it is very interesting and fun to create these avatars for people. I do enjoy being set a task to do when creating these, for example creating a Avatar with a Lion and a Heart for ~SqueakyLion was fun. So here I am people, I will make a avatar for you if you ask and all I ask is that you do something is return for me. Either mention me in your signature or in your journal, if you are a subscriber you can put my support stamp in your journal too, but if you are not a subscriber you can still show your support by faving the stamp that I made. I might as well say that I will also make custom stamps for you if you want, again I ask that you mention me in your Journal if I do make you a stamp. Note me or leave me a message if you want any of these things with what you want in them. Also it would be nice if you could fav or add my stamp to your journal even if you do not want anything, thank you very much. For examples of my work check out my gallery, also below is the stamp which I made so you can show your support of me.
On deviantART there are thousands of different people, some people create masterpieces which are never discovered and others have amazing work which is well know but still deserves to be acknowledged. On the other hand there are deviants who are on deviantART to help to make it a better place for everyone and others who just here to make friends and support others. I think that I should acknowledge people who I believe to have done a great job or created something which I think is impressive so every so often I will feature people and work in my journal. Below is some deviants and works which I believe need to be acknowledged.
Featured Deviants
First on my list of amazing deviants is my close friend oh-so-insidious. Her art work is funny and very cute and she is also making emoticons and she is making great progress with them. She will always be up for a talk and is always there when I need someone to talk to. Everyone should check her out and see her great yet also amusing muffins and cupcakes, if you are confused by what I have just said check out her gallery and find out what I mean.
Dream-Driven is a good example of how no matter how new you are on deviantART you can still make a positive difference to it. Dream-Driven has faved quite a few of my works and has always made thoughtful comments on them which have made me feel all nice and warm inside. As well as being a great person she also is great at Photomanipulations, for examples of what I mean go and check out her gallery, She has some truly impressive pieces in there, I recommend anyone reading this to go check her out.
The next person I think should be mentioned is TTL-Photoworks, I have literally known about him for maybe an hour or two but after seeing his photography I knew he had to be put on this list. After looking at about two or three of his photos I was beyond impressed. I faved a bunch of his photos right away because they impressed me so much. His work with birds is very impressive and so beautiful. Everyone on dA should see this mans mind-bogglingly amazing photography and if I could be as good a photographer as him I would be so happy that my head would literally explode from amazing happiness and instead of brains and stuff going everywhere cupcakes would come out of my head. (Translation: I would be very very happy indeed)

98% of Deviants don't know the difference between "your" and "you're." If you're one of the 2% that wants to punch 'em, put this in your sig.
